Welcome!

Hi, I’m Lynn Sebourn. Welcome! As the Mayor of Tullahoma, I created this site to speak with you directly. My goal is to share the latest news on city issues, celebrate the achievements of our neighbors, and take a deep dive into the complex questions facing our community.

I hope you find the information here both useful and insightful.

My Background

Tullahoma operates with a Board of Mayor and Aldermen and a full-time city administrator who manages day-to-day operations. This means that being your Mayor is a part-time role—and like many of you, I work a full-time job during the day.

In my professional life, I am an aerospace engineer. I spent 25 years analyzing wind tunnel systems at AEDC, and that technical background shapes how I lead. Engineering is about solving problems as a team with clearly-defined goals. I try to bring that same "engineer's eye" to our city board.

I've had the opportunity to participate in many problem-solving exercises in my career and I try to bring that experience to my work on our city board.

Our community's challenges are often complex. My mission is to use my experience to separate the facts and solutions from the "noise" of social media and the 24-hour news cycle. I’ve been applying this problem-solving approach for over 20 years across the City Planning Commission, our Economic Development Board, and my six years on the County Commission.

Living in Tullahoma

Life here is about much more than work. For my family and me, it’s about the spirit of the community. You might have seen us performing at South Jackson Goes Country or caught my daughters performing with the THS Band.

Like you, I’ve spent countless hours fishing our local lakes, sitting in the stands at ball fields, and enjoying live music across the city. These are the moments that make Tullahoma home. As our town grows, I am committed to preserving that rural character and the spirit of service that makes our community great.

A Few Guiding Principles.

Civic leadership is a balancing act. To stay on track, I rely on a few core principles to guide every decision I make:

  • Civility: We live in a divisive time where fear and "outrage culture" get the most clicks. I believe real progress requires skill, patience, and mutual respect. I work daily to treat everyone with civility, and I invite you to do the same.
  • Respect for All: My job is to represent every citizen—from business owners to the homeless, and every neighbor in between. Our laws should be implemented with dignity and a genuine desire to help others.
  • Strategic Planning: As President Eisenhower said, "Plans are worthless, but planning is everything." The future is always changing, so we must plan constantly. I believe in the power of preparation to ensure our decisions today benefit the city years from now.
  • Fiscal Responsibility: This is more than just balancing a budget. It’s about asking: "How can we do this better? How can we do it for less? And should we be spending taxpayer money on this at all?"
  • Transparency: I believe in open, honest conversations. While some matters must remain private for legal or privacy reasons, I am committed to ensuring you understand what your government is doing and why.
