The Bicentennial Quilt
I want to share with you a special item from my family. My mom, Anna Mary Sebourn, made this quilt for the Bicentennial in 1976. I have had this quilt for about 40 years. It seems appropriate to show it off a little during this year's celebration of America 250.
Recently Mom was asking about this quilt, so I carried it back to her on Mother's Day. She is going to share it with her local quilting club in Doniphan, Missouri.
The quilt has a hand embroidered quilt block for each of the 50 states. Each block has an outline of the state, a star to indicate the state capitol, the state flower, and the state bird. It also has the year the state was admitted to the Union and the number of the state in order of admission. The states are placed in order from the top to the bottom of the quilt.
The quilt also contains a map of the United States and 50 stars, one for each state.

Thanks to a few of the city staff who helped me hold this up and get a great photo of the quilt.
Tullahoma's Celebration of America 250
This year is America's 250th birthday and Tullahoma will have several events to celebrate, including of course the Annual Tullahoma Fireworks show on July 3rd. This year, in celebration of America 250, the fireworks show will be longer and a little "bigger"
One of our America 250 events is coming very soon. A special presentation on the "Ghost Army," the top-secret WWII deception unit that was formed right here in Tullahoma! This event will be held May 24th and 25th at the South Jackson Performing Arts Center. You can get tickets here: https://southjackson.org/sjevent/ghost-army/

You can find out about all the America 250 events on the city website. Keep an eye on this page to to stay up to date.
